Happy Valentine’s Day from the Spa Central Coast – February 2021 Newsletter
So as soon as we put out a newsletter saying we need a prescription to book a massage then something changes and now we don’t. It’s just sort of what’s expected right?
What a year!! So we have learned even more that we can deal with change and I think we have also learned even more how important it is to have self care, touch, time to ourselves, balance.
We are now open for facials — some of you haven’t had one for a year! It’s time to make your appointment! We are operating the same…safely. We do ask that if you have been around anyone who isn’t feeling well you postpone your appointment but if you are healthy then we need to get your skin back in shape.
This month our special is microdermabrasion and it’s 20% off! Our medical grade machines have the diamond tip wands. The diamonds exfoliate dead skin cells which are vacuumed at the same time. This procedure is by far one one of my favorites and you will see immediate results in the skin. After a year of no facials it’s the one I recommend for men, women and teenagers alike!
February is by far one of my favorite months as we get to celebrate love by taking the time to spend it with someone special. If you are single and learning that we need to really care for ourselves so that we can properly give to another, then this is a month to give yourself more self love too.
So, for couples we have our Couples Massage. Please note, we will not be open on Sunday the 14th so appointments do need to be scheduled early! Buying a gift card and making a special date night is always a thoughtful gift. To make it easy for you just click this link to purchase your gift card for that someone special.
We have been busy and have added some new products to our line… Our signature oil is always a favorite so we have added it to our Hand Sanitizer. This hand sanitizer has aloe, seaweed, arnica, vitamin E, basil, melissa, lavender, grapefruit and our Hydrating Body Lotion which also has vitamins A and D!

February Recipe of the Month
Use All The Broccoli Stir Fry
Every week I’ve been posting a ‘foodie’ post on my social media channels. Here’s a great recipe “Use All The Broccoli Stir Fry.” This recipe pairs well with salmon.
Pro Tip: Double the glaze and use it on the salmon as well as the broccoli!
Serves 4 (approximately 2c of stir fry per person).
- 2.5 lbs large broccoli heads with stems at least 1” thick (4-5 heads)
- 1 Medium red onion
- ½ cup water, divided
- 2 Tbsp Shaoxing rice wine or dry sherry
- 2 Tbsp reduced sodium tamari
- 1 Tbsp chile-garlic sauce
- 4 tsp toasted sesame oil, divided
- 2 tsp Arrowroot (was cornstarch)
- 1 tsp light brown sugar
- 2 Tbsp Olive oil, divided
- ½ tsp salt
- 2 small red chiles, sliced (seeded if desired)
- 1 Tbsp minced fresh ginger
- 2 Tbsp chopped roasted unsalted peanuts
Remove florets from broccoli stems. Cut the florets into 1 inch pieces and set aside. Trim the stem ends. Using a vegetable spiralizer with the thin noodle blade, spiralize as much of each stem as possible. Chop any remaining stem into ½ inch pieces. Switch to the thick noodle blade and spiralize the onion.
Whisk ¼ cup water, rice wine (or sherry), tamari, chilli garlic sauce, 2 tsp sesame oil, arrowroot and brown sugar in a small bowl. Set by the stove.
Heat 1 Tbsp olive oil in a large flat bottom carbon steel wok over medium high heat. Add the broccoli noodles, stem pieces and onion; cook, stirring until tender, about 5 minutes. Transfer the mixture to a large bowl and toss with the remaining 2 tsp sesame oil and salt.
Add the remaining 1 Tbsp olive oil, chilies and ginger to the pan. Cook, stirring constantly, for 15 seconds. Add the reserved florets and cook, stirring, until starting to brown, about 1 minute. Add the remaining 1/4 cup water, cover and cook until the florets are tender, about 3 minutes more. Uncover and add the reserved sauce. Cook, stirring, until the sauce is thick, about 1 minute.
Arrange the noodle mixture on a platter with the florets on top. Serve sprinkled with peanuts.
